DISCUSSION AND OUTLOOK
----------------------
At 1100 AM EDT (1500 UTC), the center of Tropical Storm Chris was
located near latitude 32.9 North, longitude 75.0 West. Chris has
barely moved since yesterday and no significant motion is expected
during the next 2 to 3 days.

Maximum sustained winds are near 45 mph (75 km/h) with higher gusts.
Chris is forecast to become a hurricane on Monday with some
additional strengthening thereafter.

Tropical-storm-force winds extend outward up to 60 miles (95 km)
from the center.

The minimum central pressure recently reported by a NOAA Hurricane
Hunter aircraft was 1006 mb (29.71 inches).


HAZARDS AFFECTING LAND

SURF:  Swells generated by Chris are expected to increase and affect
portions of the coasts of North Carolina and the mid-Atlantic states
into early next week.  These swells could cause life-threatening
surf and rip current conditions.  Please consult products from your
