Synopsis for the Gulf of Mexico

.SYNOPSIS...Tropical Storm Gamma is near 22.7N 87.5W 999 mb at
5 AM EDT, moving WSW at 2 kt. Maximum sustained winds are 45 kt
with gusts to 55 kt. Gamma will move to 22.5N 88.0W this
afternoon, 22.1N 88.9W Tue morning, 21.4N 89.8W Tue afternoon,
20.8N 90.4W Wed morning, move inland and weaken to a tropical
depression near 20.3N 90.5W Wed afternoon, and inland to 20.7N
90.1W Thu morning. Gamma will gradually dissipate over the
south- central Gulf by early Fri. Meanwhile, in the Caribbean,
Tropical Depression Twenty-Six near 17.0N 78.2W 1006 mb at 5 AM
EDT moving WNW at 8 kt. Maximum sustained winds 30 kt gusts
40 kt. Twenty-Six will strengthen to a tropical storm near 17.4N
79.1W this afternoon, then continue through the northwest
Caribbean before reaching the Yucatan Channel and western tip of
Cuba by Tue evening. Twenty- six will strengthen to a hurricane
as it enters the southeast Gulf near 22.5N 85.8W Wed morning,
then will move to 24.4N 88.1W Wed afternoon, and 25.9N 90.0W Thu
morning. Twenty- Six will change little in intensity as it moves
into the north- central and northwest Gulf by early Fri.
