Seas given as significant wave height, which is the average
height of the highest 1/3 of the waves. Individual waves may be
more than twice the significant wave height.

Synopsis for the Gulf of Mexico

.SYNOPSIS...Tropical Storm Beta is near 28.7N 96.7W 999 mb at
5 AM EDT moving NW at 3 kt. Maximum sustained winds 35 kt gusts
45 kt. Beta will remain inland near 28.8N 96.5W this afternoon,
then weaken to a tropical depression near 29.1N 95.6W Wed
morning. Tropical Depression Beta will reach 29.8N 94.3W Wed
afternoon, 30.8N 92.8W Thu morning, then become a remnant low
and move to 32.1N 90.9W Thu afternoon. Beta will dissipate over
Mississippi by early Sat. Impacts from Beta will remain confined
to nearshore coastal waters of Texas and Louisiana. A cold front
is stalling from the central to southeastern Gulf today. To the
north of the front, fresh to strong winds will prevail into Wed.
Low pressure may form along this frontal boundary in the
southeast Gulf later this week.
