Synopsis for the Gulf of Mexico .SYNOPSIS...A weakening boundary extending from southeastern Louisiana to 27N94W is resulting in scattered showers and thunderstorms over much of the central Gulf north of 25N between 87W and 93W. This activity may contain locally gusty winds and rough seas. The trough will weaken as it lifts northwestward to the NW Gulf on Wed. The scattered shower and thunderstorm activity will continue through late Wed. A strong cold front will move into the NW Gulf Wed night. It will quickly reach from near New Orleans to 27N93W to Tampico early Thu, then from Panama City to 25N90W to inland Minatitlan, Mexico by early Thu evening and from near Tampa to 25N89W and to the central Bay of Campeche by early on Fri. The cold front will begin to weaken as it reaches from near Fort Myers to the eastern Bay of Campeche early Fri evening. Gale force northerly winds and building seas are expected west of the front over most of the western Gulf waters Wed night through early Fri. The front will gradually weaken as it moves to the southeastern Gulf on Sat, then become stationary through Sun as it weakens to a trough. Winds and seas will decrease Fri and Fri night. A secondary cold front will sweep across the area Sat afternoon through Sun night increasing the northerly winds to fresh to strong speeds over most locations.
