Individual waves may be more than twice the significant wave height. Synopsis for the Gulf of Mexico .SYNOPSIS...A cold front extends from near Houston Texas to Corpus Christi Texas. The front will stall near the Texas coast later today through Sun night. Showers and thunderstorms will accompany the front. Some thunderstorms tonight could be strong to severe and produce strong gusty winds. A thermal trough will develop daily over the Yucatan Peninsula then move W over the Gulf. The trough will support pulses of strong winds over the south central Gulf at night and into the morning through Sat morning, then winds will pulse to fresh speeds Sun through Tue night. Otherwise, high pres ridging will cross the Gulf from NE to SW through Mon night. Smoke and haze from ongoing fires in Mexico could reduce visibilities over the western Gulf and the Bay of Campeche during the next several days.
