Individual waves may be more than twice the significant wave height. Synopsis for the Gulf of Mexico .SYNOPSIS...A cold front extending from near Apalachicola FL to 27N89W to 27N96W is supporting numerous showers and scattered thunderstorms over the NE and SW Gulf of Mexico. Thunderstorms are likely producing strong gusty winds and frequent lightning. The cold front will continue slowly moving southeast across the eastern Gulf Mon into Tue while weakening. A high pressure ridge will build northeast of the region through mid week. Diurnal trough development over the Yucatan Peninsula will support pulses of fresh to locally strong winds in the SW Gulf Mon through Thu. Smoke and haze from ongoing agricultural fires in Mexico could reduce visibilities in the western Gulf and the Bay of Campeche.
