height of the highest 1/3 of the waves. Individual waves may be
more than twice the significant wave height.

Synopsis for the Gulf of Mexico

.SYNOPSIS...Strong to gale force winds in the central and
eastern Gulf follow a cold front exiting the basin. Winds will
diminish from W to E across the basin through this afternoon.
Very large seas of up to 21 ft will subside to less than 8 ft by
late Sat. High pres behind the front will shift eastward across
the central Gulf on Sat, and move across the Florida Panhandle
on Sun, leaving a ridge from the Florida Big Bend to SE Texas on
Mon. Fresh return flow will set up across the NW waters on Tue.

.TODAY...W of 94W, NW to N winds 20 to 30 kt, becoming NW 15 to 
20 kt in the afternoon. Seas 9 to 13 ft, subsiding to 6 to 9 ft.
Elsewhere, NW winds 25 to 35 kt W of 90W, and W to NW 25 to 35 
kt E of 90W. Seas 14 to 21 ft. 
.TONIGHT...NW winds 20 to 30 kt, becoming W to NW 15 to 20 kt 
late. Seas 12 to 18 ft, subsiding to 8 to 12 ft late. 
.SAT...W of 90W, S winds 10 to 15 kt. Elsewhere, N winds 10 to
