Synopsis for the Gulf of Mexico

.SYNOPSIS...Hurricane Katia is near 21.6N 94.6W 980 mb at 11 AM
EDT and is stationary. Maximum sustained winds 70 kt gusts
85 kt. Katia is forecast to strengthen as it makes a slow SW
drift, reaching 21.4N 95.0W this evening, 21.2N 95.5W Fri
morning, then 20.7N 96.5W Fri evening before making landfall Fri
night on the coast of Veracruz where it will weaken to a
tropical storm inland near 19.9N 97.9W and dissipate on Sun.
Major Hurricane Irma Hurricane Irma is forecast to enter the
eastern Straits of Florida Sat afternoon, then turn northward
across the Florida peninsula Sat night and Sun, bringing
tropical storm force winds to eastern portions of the Straits of
Florida and Florida Bay in the far SE Gulf late Sat into Sun.
