The low is expected to drift SE along the trough through Thu and then meander, possibly developing into a tropical cyclone. A weak cold front will sink SE across the NW and N Gulf Wed, before stalling from the NE Gulf to central Gulf Fri, then lifting N while dissipating Sat. Hurricane Irma is forecast to approach the Straits of Florida Fri night, and reach near 24.0N 81.0W Sat night as a major hurricane.
