Synopsis for the Gulf of Mexico .SYNOPSIS...Tropical Storm Franklin in the NW Caribbean near 17.7N 85.1W at 11 AM EDT moving W-NW at 12 kt. Maximum sustained winds are 50 kt with gusts to 60 kt. Franklin will move across the Yucatan Peninsula tonight and Tue and enter the Bay of Campeche around 5 PM Tue and be near 20.5N 93.3W at 8 AM Wed. Franklin will intensify to a strong tropical storm near 20.5N 93.3W at 8 AM on Wed, then move inland Mexico near Veracruz by sunrise on Thu. Elsewhere, an E to W ridge will meander across the northern coastal plains. A thermal trough will develop over the Yucatan Peninsula this evening, move slowly westward during the overnight hours, and dissipate over the SW Gulf by late Tue morning.
