Synopsis for the Gulf of Mexico .SYNOPSIS...Tropical Storm Franklin in the NW Caribbean near 17.1N 84.2W at 5 AM EDT moving W-NW at 11 kt. Maximum sustained winds are 40 kt with gusts to 50 kt. Franklin will move across the Yucatan Peninsula on Mon night and Tue with the center in the Bay of Campeche at 8 PM Tue and near near 20.4N 92.3W at 2 AM Wed. Franklin will intensify to a strong tropical storm near 21.0N 96.4W at 2 AM on Wed, then move inland Mexico near Veracruz by sunrise on Thu. Elsewhere, an E to W ridge will meander across the northern coastal plains. A thermal trough will develop over the Yucatan Peninsula this evening, move slowly westward during the overnight hours, and dissipate over the SW Gulf by late Tue morning.
