000 FZNT27 KNHC 110331 OFFN06 NAVTEX Marine Forecast NWS National Hurricane Center Miami, FL 1031 PM EST Sun Dec 10 2023 ...Please refer to Coastal Waters Forecasts (CWF) available through NOAA Weather Radio and other means for detailed Coastal Waters Forecasts... .SYNOPSIS...A strong cold front extending from Cedar Key, Florida SW to Veracruz, Mexico will exit the basin late tonight/early Mon morning. A strong pressure gradient between the front and high pressure building behind it is supporting gale force northerly winds in the Bay of Campeche and NW gale force winds just W of the front over the adjacent waters between Crystal River and Cedar Key, Florida. Except from the NW basin, fresh to strong N to NW winds are elsewhere across the basin behind the front. Rough seas in the 8 to 18 ft range cover almost the entire gulf behind the front with a buoy indicating seas to 17 ft in the Bay of Campeche. Winds in the SW and E gulf will diminish to moderate to fresh speeds by noon on Mon and seas will subside below 8 ft at night. Looking ahead, the aforementioned front is forecast to stall across the western Atlantic and NW Caribbean on Tue, before drifting back towards the Straits of Florida and the SE Gulf on Wed. The pressure gradient between very strong high pressure north of the area and lower pressure associated with the frontal boundary will lead to fresh to near gale force winds across the E and NW gulf Tue evening through Thu with potential gale force winds developing over the north-central and NE basin Thu night through Fri.
