.SYNOPSIS...A 1016 mb low pres centered near 28.5N88W will
continue moving ESE across the Gulf of Mexico through Wed, with
a cold front extending SSW and a warm front extending E from the
low. The pressure gradient between the low and strong high
pressure over the SE United States is causing frequent gusts to
gale-force in the NE Gulf offshore waters and the N-central Gulf
coastal waters through the next several hours. NW gale-force
winds are also prevailing through the next several hours within
60 nm offshore Veracruz. Fresh to strong N winds are expected
elsewhere behind the front through late tonight. Scattered
showers and thunderstorms are expected E of the low, as well as
in the SE Gulf. Looking ahead, a stronger cold front is expected
to move off the Texas coast Thu evening followed by near-gale to
gale force NW winds and rough to very rough seas across the
basin through Fri night, with strong gales possible off Veracruz
beginning of Fri. Conditions will slowly improve through the
upcoming weekend.
