.SYNOPSIS...Major Hurricane Laura is centered near 27.9N 92.8W 
947 mb at 5 PM EDT moving NW at 13 kt. Maximum sustained winds 
125 kt gusts 150 kt. Laura is producing extremely dangerous, 
life-threatening marine conditions across the northern Gulf 
waters. The center of Laura will approach the Upper Texas and 
southwest Louisiana coasts this evening and move to 29.7N 93.6W 
early Thu morning, then move inland and weaken to a tropical 
storm near 32.5N 93.5W Thu afternoon. Long-period swell from 
Laura will impact much of the basin through Thu. Atlantic high 
pressure will build westward over the eastern Gulf in the wake of
Laura.
