The wind speeds across the Gulf of Mexico will slow down a bit during the first half of tonight, and then increase to fresh to strong again during the second half of tonight leading to Friday morning. The western two thirds of the Gulf of Mexico will be covered by fresh to strong SE winds from Friday morning until Saturday afternoon. Fresh to strong S and SE winds will be concentrated in the central sections of the Gulf of Mexico on Saturday night. A cold front will enter the NW corner of the Gulf of Mexico on Saturday night, along the line from SW Louisiana to the NE Mexico coast near 24N. The cold front on Sunday afternoon will reach from SE Louisiana to the SW corner of the Gulf of Mexico, along the coast of Mexico near 18.5N 94.5W. The front on Monday afternoon will be nearly stationary from the Florida Straits to the NE Yucatan Peninsula. Fresh to strong NW winds will be to the NW of the cold front, during the front's E to SE movement. Strong to near gale force NW winds are forecast in the SW corner near Veracruz Mexico from Sunday morning into Sunday night. Sea heights are forecast to reach 8 feet, from Friday night and Saturday morning, from the west central Gulf waters, and spreading into the NW corner of the area, until Saturday night.
