Southeast Gulf of Mexico

.SYNOPSIS...Hurricane Rafael is centered near 24.6N 89.7W at
2100 UTC, or 200 nm N of Progreso Mexico, moving W at 8 kt.
Estimated minimum central pressure is 967 mb. Maximum sustained
wind speed is 85 kt with gusts to 105 kt. A steady and gradual
weakening trend will begin tonight through the weekend as Rafael
moves in a slow west to west-northwestward motion, before
weakening quickly and turning southward Mon night through Wed.
On the current forecast track, Rafael is expected to reach near
24.9N 90.6W tonight, near 25.2N 91.5W midday Sat as a tropical
storm, near 25.6N 92.0W midday Sun, and near 23.8N 92.3W midday
Mon as a 30 kt remnant low. Moderate NE to E winds will build
across the basin Wed.

Within 200 nm east of the coast of Florida

.SYNOPSIS...Fresh E winds and rough seas occurring north of a 
shear line, located along 22N to the north of the Greater and
Lesser Antilles, will diminish through Sat. An inverted trough S
of 25N and along 69W and the eastern Dominican Republic
continues to produce disorganized showers and thunderstorms.
Some slow and  gradual development of this system is possible
during the next  couple of days while it moves westward across
the southern Bahamas. Another strong cold front will move south
into the northern forecast waters on Sat, reaching 26N Sun
morning, then will stall and begin to weaken along 20N Mon.
Expect widespread fresh to strong NE to  E winds and rough to
very rough seas in N swell north behind the front through this
weekend. N swell will reach the NE Caribbean Mon morning and the
Tropical Atlantic waters Mon afternoon and night. Elsewhere,
moderate to locally fresh E trades and moderate to rough seas
will occur east of the Windward Islands through the forecast
period.
