Southeast Gulf of Mexico

.SYNOPSIS...A weak ridge will remain in place over the N Gulf
waters into Sat morning allowing for gentle to moderate winds 
for most of the Gulf of Mexico. Fresh NE winds are expected near 
and to the northwest of the Yucatan Peninsula tonight due to 
local effects. Looking ahead, a well-defined tropical wave, 
Invest-AL97, moving across the central Caribbean will impact 
portions of the southeastern Gulf and Straits of Florida with 
active weather Sat through Sun. A tropical depression is likely 
to form this weekend over the Straits of Florida or the eastern 
Gulf of Mexico near the Florida Peninsula.

morning except in Straits of Florida SE to S 20 to 25 kt. Seas 4 
to 6 ft, except Straits of Florida 6 to 8 ft. Numerous showers and

.SUN...Straits of Florida, SE to S 15 to 20 kt. Seas 5 to 6 ft.

afternoon, becoming variable less than 5 kt. N of 24N, SW winds

Within 200 nm east of the coast of Florida

.SYNOPSIS...A well-defined tropical wave is producing a large
area of disorganized showers and thunderstorms over Hispaniola, 
the southeastern Bahamas, eastern Cuba, and the adjacent waters 
of the southwestern Atlantic. The wave is expected to move near 
or over Cuba throughout the day and then emerge over the Straits 
of Florida tonight or Sat. Environmental conditions are expected 
to be conducive for additional development after that time, and 
a tropical depression is likely to form this weekend over the 
Straits of Florida or eastern Gulf of Mexico near the Florida 
Peninsula. Elsewhere, winds will remain generally moderate or 
weaker for the next several days except over the western portion 
where fresh southerly winds will be probable from Fri night 
through late Mon.
