Southeast Gulf of Mexico .SYNOPSIS...A 1008 mb low is over the eastern Gulf near 27N85W, with a cold front extending from it to 25N90W and to inland Mexico at 20N97W. Strong to near gale force northerly winds are behind the front. Gale force north winds are offshore Tampico, Mexico. The gale force winds will expand southward tonight and impact areas offshore Veracruz, Mexico into Sun. The low pressure will shift southeastward toward the southeastern Gulf on Sun. Gale force north winds are expected over some of the waters to the west of the low by early Sun, then diminish during Sun afternoon. Rough to very rough seas will be produced by the strong to gale force winds. The front and low pressure will exit the basin Sun night allowing for marine conditions to improve. Rough seas will continue over portions of the southern Gulf of Mexico into early Mon as high pressure settles over the region. Fresh southerly return flow is expected for the western Gulf Wed and Wed night as the high shifts eastward.
