High pressure centered over the SE U.S. will slide eastward through late today as a low pressure system develops over eastern Texas, and quickly tracks east-northeastward across the southern U.S. while deepening. The low will drag a strong cold front across the Gulf of Mexico late this afternoon through Thu. While near gale and gale force winds will occur over the north-central Gulf tonight with this system, fresh to strong S winds are expected over the SE Gulf tonight into early Wed ahead of the front, with fresh N winds behind the front Thu.
