137 FZNT25 KNHC 221536 OFFN04 NAVTEX Marine Forecast NWS National Hurricane Center Miami, FL 1136 AM EDT Sun May 22 2022 ...Please refer to Coastal Waters Forecasts (CWF) available through NOAA Weather Radio and other means for detailed Coastal Waters Forecasts... Southeast Gulf of Mexico .SYNOPSIS...A line of thunderstorms persists over the central Gulf early this morning, associated with an upper disturbance over the region. Strong winds are being produced by this activity. This activity is expected to gradually diminish through today. A line of numerous thunderstorms, with strong gusty winds and frequent lightning, is racing east across the NW Gulf. This activity will likely reach the western half of the central Gulf early this afternoon. Fresh to strong southeast winds and rough seas are ongoing elsewhere from the south-central Gulf to the northwest Gulf, between a strong ridge over the western Atlantic and lower pressure over southern Mexico. Winds and seas will diminish into Mon as the low pressure weakens, except for pulses off fresh to strong winds off the north coast of the Yucatan Peninsula, mainly at night. Looking ahead, a ridge will build from westward from the western Atlantic across the northern Gulf through mid-week. The associated gradient between the ridge and low pressure with a cold front west of the area will support fresh southeast return flow over the western Gulf Tue through late Wed. The cold front is expected to move into the western Gulf on Thu followed by gentle to moderate north to northeast winds. .THIS AFTERNOON...SE winds 15 to 20 kt. Seas 5 to 7 ft. It will shift eastward Thu ahead of a cold front moving across the southeastern U.S. The associated pressure gradient will allow for mainly gentle to moderate winds across the region through the period, except for pulsing of moderate to fresh east winds between Hispaniola and the southeastern Bahamas through Mon night. Moderate northeast swell may impact the waters east of 60W through Tue, then subside into Wed. .THIS AFTERNOON...E to SE winds 10 to 15 kt S of 27N, and S winds 10 to 15 kt N of 27N. Seas 3 to 4 ft.
