Southeast Gulf of Mexico .SYNOPSIS...High pressure has settled in over the area. Fresh to strong west winds over the northern Gulf east of 90W are in the wake of a cold front that is currently moving across the NE and north-central Gulf waters. This front will quickly move southward across the eastern Gulf today with the fresh to strong winds following it. These winds will diminish by tonight as the front exits the Gulf. Fresh to strong east to southeast return flow is expected in the western Gulf tonight and will continue through Wed afternoon. .THIS AFTERNOON...NW winds 15 to 20 kt. Fresh to strong southwest winds are ahead of the front, with fresh to strong westerly winds behind the front, north of about 28N. The front will reach from near 31N68W to the southeastern Bahamas and to the eastern tip of Cuba this evening, and from near 31N64W to 25N70W and to the Windward Passage Sun morning. Strong winds are expected to continue ahead and behind this front through Sun. A second cold front that extends from near 31N77W to inland central Florida will be followed by strong to gale-force winds and building seas today through Sun as it merges with the first front by Sun. High pressure will build over the area early next week which will improve conditions over most of the forecast waters.
