Southeast Gulf of Mexico .SYNOPSIS...A 1001 mb extratropical low is in the east-central Gulf near 26.5N 83.5W, accompanied by gales, within about 120 nm of the center. A cold front extends south-southwestward from the low to the Yucatan Channel. This low will track NE and move inland into Florida by late this morning. Gales will end for the NE Gulf of Mexico by midday. Showers and some strong thunderstorms will continue to be possible over the far southeastern Gulf and Florida Straits before the front moves SE of the area this evening. Fresh to strong winds and seas of 8 to 10 ft behind the front will gradually subside late tonight and early Wed. Frequent gusts to gale force are first expected east of Florida near the coast this afternoon. A trailing cold front will cross the region tonight and early Wed, bringing scattered showers and thunderstorms with it.
