The trough will move little tonight, then gradually shift eastward through late Wed in response to weak high pressure that will build southeastward over the northwest forecast waters. Stronger high pressure will then build southward over the NW and north-central offshore waters late in the week. Major Hurricane Sam located over the tropical N Atlantic near 14.2N 50.5W 938 mb at 5 PM EDT is moving NW at 6 kt, with maximum sustained winds 130 kt gusts 160 kt. Sam is forecast to continue on its current motion over the next few days as it slowly weakens reaching near 27N63W by Fri afternoon, with maximum sustained winds 110 kt gusts 135 kt.
