Southeast Gulf of Mexico

.SYNOPSIS...A surface trough extends from 27N90W to 34N94W and
to 18N93W. Scattered showers and thunderstorms are along and
near the trough. The trough will drift westward toward the Texas
coast through Mon night. Otherwise, moderate winds prevail north
of the trough. High pressure presently over the area will remain
in place trough Thu, then be replaced by slighter stronger high
pressure that will build southward over the area Fri and Fri
night. This will lead to freshening of the winds over most
sections of the Gulf Fri and Fri night.

Within 200 nm east of the coast of Florida

.SYNOPSIS...A surface trough extends from near 30N72W to the
central Bahamas and to 22N77W. Scattered showers and
thunderstorms are along and near this trough. The trough will
move little tonight, then gradually shift eastward through late 
Wed in response to weak high pressure that will build 
southeastward over the northwest forecast waters. Stronger high 
pressure will then build southward over the NW and north-central 
offshore waters late in the week. Major Hurricane Sam located over
the tropical N Atlantic near 14.2N 50.5W 938 mb at 5 PM EDT is 
moving NW at 6 kt, with maximum sustained winds 130 kt gusts 160 
kt. Sam is forecast to continue on its current motion over the 
next few days as it slowly weakens reaching near 27N63W by Fri 
afternoon, with maximum sustained winds 110 kt gusts 135 kt. 
Swells generated by Sam are expected to spread westward across the
forecast waters late in the week.
