Southeast Gulf of Mexico

.SYNOPSIS...Tropical Storm Nicholas near 29.6N 94.7W 1003 mb at
5 PM EDT moving ENE at 4 kt. Maximum sustained winds 35 kt gusts
45 kt. Nicholas will continue to move inland and weaken to a
tropical depression near 29.8N 94.0W Wed morning. Tropical storm
conditions will remain over the SE Texas and SW Louisiana
coastal waters through early this evening. Fresh to strong winds
will dominish to moderate to fresh tonight and then prevail over
the north-central waters through Wed afternoon. For the remainder
of the week, gentle to moderate return flow will dominate across 
the basin.

.SYNOPSIS...A weak surface ridge is providing mainly gentle to
moderate easterly winds. Locally fresh winds are over the
offshore waters E of the Bahamas due to convection associated
with a surface trough that extends to the Turks and Caicos. 
Environmental conditions are forecast to be conducive for gradual 
tropical cyclone development during the next few days, and a 
tropical depression could form while the system moves NNW to N 
across the western Atlantic. Regardless of development, increased 
winds and seas are expected over the N-central and NE waters Wed 
and Thu. 

.TONIGHT...NE to E winds 5 to 10 kt S of 27N, and E 5 to 10 kt N
of 27N. Seas 2 ft or less. 
.WED...S of 27N,E winds less than 5 kt, shifting to SE 5 kt in
the afternoon. N of 27N,E winds 5 to 10 kt. Seas 2 ft or less.
