Southeast Gulf of Mexico

.SYNOPSIS...Tropical Storm Nicholas near 29.6N 95.3W 1002 mb at
11 AM EDT moving NE at 5 kt. Maximum sustained winds 40 kt gusts
50 kt. Nicholas will continue to move inland and weaken to a
tropical depression near 30.1N 94.7W this evening. Tropical
storm conditions will remain over the SE Texas and SW Louisiana
adjacent waters through late this afternoon. Fresh to near gale
force winds will dominish to moderate to fresh tonight and the
prevail over the north-central watres through Wed early in the
evening. For the remainder of the week, gentle to moderate
return flow will dominate across the basin.

Within 200 nm east of the coast of Florida

.SYNOPSIS...A weak surface ridge is providing mainly gentle to
moderate easterly winds. Locally fresh winds are over the north-
central and NE offshore waters due to convection associated with
a surface trough just E of the Bahamas. An area of low pressure
is expected to form during the next day or two a couple of hundred
miles N of the SE or central Bahamas. Some gradual development of
this system is forecast thereafter, and a tropical depression 
could form later this week while the system moves NNW or N across 
the western Atlantic. Regardless of development, increased winds 
and seas are expected over the N-central and NE waters Wed and 
Thu.

to 3 ft in the afternoon. 
.TONIGHT...NE to E winds 5 to 10 kt S of 27N, and E 5 to 10 kt N
