Southeast Gulf of Mexico

.SYNOPSIS...Tropical Storm Elsa is just south of central Cuba at
5 AM EDT moving NW at 12 kt. Maximum sustained winds 55 kt gusts
65 kt. Elsa will weaken slightly as it tracks across western and
central Cuba today and over the Straits of Florida tonight with
maximum sustained winds 50 kt gusts 60 kt. Elsa will maintain
intensity as it reach the southeastern Gulf of Mexico near 23.9N
82.5W late tonight, then increase slightly in strength as it
nears 25.9N 83.2 Tue afternoon with maximum sustained winds
55 kt gusts 65 kt, reach to near 28.0N 83.4W late Tue night,
then move inland to near 30.1N 83.0W Wed afternoon. Expect for
marine conditions to begin to deteriorate over most of the far
eastern Gulf waters beginning today continuing through mid-week.
Elsewhere in the Gulf, gentle to moderate southerly winds will
prevail through early in the week. Showers and thunderstorms are
expected to continue across the north- central Gulf through Tue.

Straits of Florida, seas 2 to 4 ft, building to 7 to 10 ft in
the afternoon. Elsewhere, seas 3 to 4 ft.
.TONIGHT...TROPICAL STORM CONDITIONS EXPECTED. Straits of
Florida, NE winds 40 to 50 kt. Seas 10 to 17 ft. Elsewhere, NE 
winds 15 to 20 kt, becoming NE to E 25 to 30 kt late. Seas 2 to 4 
ft, building to 7 to 10 ft late. Numerous squalls and 
thunderstorms.
.TUE...TROPICAL STORM CONDITIONS POSSIBLE. Straits of Florida,
S to SW winds 15 to 20 kt. Elsewhere, N to NE winds 35 to 40 kt,
becoming S to SW 25 to 30 kt in the afternoon. Seas 6 to 8 ft.
Numerous squalls and thunderstorms.

.SYNOPSIS...Atlantic high pressure will shift slightly eastward 
through Mon in response to a cold front moving N of the forecast
waters. Fresh to strong southerly winds ahead of the front and N
of 28N will diminish by this afternoon. Tropical Storm Elsa is 
forecast to move into the Straits of Florida tonight into Tue.
Elsa is forecast to quickly move northeastward along the 
southeastern U.S coast Wed through Thu potentially bringing 
tropical force winds to the far northwest forecast waters.

30 kt S of 27N, and S 25 to 30 kt N of 27N. Seas 3 to 6 ft.
Scattered showers and thunderstorms.
