Southeast Gulf of Mexico

.SYNOPSIS...A high pressure ridge extending from the Atlantic to
the central Gulf will continue to shift east-southeastward
through the weekend. Hurricane Elsa is forecast to move over
portions of central and western Cuba Sun night and Mon, the
Straits of Florida late Mon, then track over a portion of the
eastern Gulf Tue before possibly moving inland central Florida
late Tue. There is a lot of uncertainty regarding the exact
track and intensity of Elsa.  

.TODAY...SW winds 10 to 15 kt. Seas 3 ft. 
.TONIGHT...NW to N winds 10 to 15 kt, shifting to SE after
midnight. Seas 3 ft in the evening, subsiding to 2 ft or less. 
.SUN...E winds 10 to 15 kt. Seas 2 ft or less. 
.SUN NIGHT...TROPICAL STORM CONDITIONS POSSIBLE. NE winds 15 to
20 kt. Seas 2 ft or less, building to 3 ft after midnight. 
.MON...TROPICAL STORM CONDITIONS POSSIBLE. NE to E winds 25 to
30 kt, increasing to 40 to 45 kt in the afternoon. Seas 3 to
4 ft.

Within 200 nm east of the coast of Florida

.SYNOPSIS...Atlantic high pressure will continue to shift 
southeastward through the weekend in response to a cold front 
that will approach the far northwest forecast waters. The front 
will become stationary just north of the area early next week. 
Hurricane Elsa is forecast to move near the southern coast of 
Hispaniola today, and move over portions of central and western 
Cuba Sun night and Mon and the Straits of Florida late Mon
before entering the southeastern Gulf into Tue.
