Southeast Gulf of Mexico .SYNOPSIS...Low pressure of 1014 mb is over the NW Gulf near 28N93W, with a trailing cold front to 23N94W and to inland Mexico just north of Veracruz. Gale force northerly winds are behind the front and west of the low pressure, while strong winds are east of the low and front. The low will gradually weaken as it tracks northeastward across the rest of the NW and north-central Gulf waters through today. It will track east- northeastward across the NE Gulf tonight. The gale force northerly winds will be confined to the SW Gulf offshore Veracruz by early this afternoon, then diminish tonight. The front will exit the southeastern Gulf Tue night and be over the Straits of Florida Wed. High pressure will build over the NW Gulf in the wake of the front, except a trough will persist over the far SW Gulf Tue and Wed. This pattern will allow for winds to diminish and seas to subside, except for fresh to strong northwest winds along the Mexican coast west of the trough. Looking ahead, another cold front will move into the northern Gulf Fri and reach from the NE Gulf to the south-central Gulf and to the SW Gulf by late Fri. .TODAY...Straits of Florida, E to SE winds 10 to 15 kt, shifting to NE early in the evening.
