Southeast Gulf of Mexico .SYNOPSIS...Weakening high pressure over the area will continue to shift eastward through Tue night in response to a cold front that is advancing eastward just offshore the Texas and southwest Louisiana coasts. This front will reach from near the western Florida panhandle to near 26N93W and to far SW Gulf early Tue, then extend from near Apalachicola, Florida to near 25N92W and stationary to the central Bay of Campeche by Tue night as a stronger cold front reaches the Texas coast. Strong high pressure behind this front will allow for this front to accelerate southeastward reaching from near Sarasota, Florida to inland the Yucatan Peninsula by Wed afternoon and to southeast of the area late Wed. Strong north gale force winds will develop over the SW Gulf and western Bay of Campeche Wed, then continue over the waters near Veracruz and eastern Bay of Campeche Wed night. Strong north winds with frequent gusts to gale force are expected over most of the waters elsewhere west of the front Wed and Wed night as well as seas building to large values. This front will slowly move eastward across the Virgin Islands tonight and dissipate by Tue night. Long-period north to northeast swell in the wake of this front will gradually decay through Tue evening. Strong south to southwest winds will develop off the N FL coast tonight in advance of the next cold front. These winds will continue through Tue evening, then shift eastward while diminishing through Wed. The front will move off the southeastern U.S. coast on Wed, reach from near 31N76W to the NW Bahamas and to central Cuba by late Wed night, from near 31N72W to 24N75W and to east-central Cuba Thu afternoon and begin to weaken as it reaches from near 30N65W to 24N70W and to northwestern Haiti Fri afternoon. The front will reach the far southeastern waters by Sat night.
