Southeast Gulf of Mexico .SYNOPSIS...Relatively weak high pressure across the area will allow for gentle to moderate east to southeast winds across the Gulf through Tue as the remnants of an old cold front shift northwestward across the area to inland the northwest and north- central Gulf Wed. A strong upper-level low pressure located over the Yucatan Peninsula is producing scattered showers and thunderstorms across much of the central and southeastern Gulf waters. The low will weaken as it moves to near the northwest section of the Yucatan Peninsula Wed, with the associated shower and thunderstorm shifting to mainly over the central Gulf. A strong cold front is expected to move into the northwest Gulf early Thu, then quickly push southeastward reaching from near Tampa, Florida to near 24N89W and to the eastern Bay of Campeche early Fri. It will begin to weaken as it reaches from near Fort Myers, Florida to near 23N89W and stationary to the eastern Bay of Campeche Fri night. The cold front will then become stationary and continue to weaken through Sat night. Winds and seas will subside behind the front Fri through Sat night, except in the Bay of Campeche where strong northerly winds will remain. .OVERNIGHT...E to SE winds 10 to 15 kt. Seas 3 to 4 ft. A weakening cold front will move over the far northwest part of the area late Thu night into Fri. It will reach from near 31N76W to east-central Florida Fri night, then become stationary through Sat night. large long-period northeast swell propagating through the waters S of 25N and east of the Bahamas will slowly subside through early Tue evening. A large set of long-period north to northeast swell will begin to propagate through the waters of the northeast part of the area on Wed, and reach the southeast waters and northeastern Caribbean beginning late Wed night and through Thu.
