Southeast Gulf of Mexico .SYNOPSIS...Strong high pressure continues to build across the region. Strong NE winds in the southern half of the Gulf of Mexico, and strong to near gale-force NW to N winds in the far SW Gulf of Mexico gradually will diminish into Thursday morning. The high pressure will shift to east of the region by late Friday night. Fresh to locally strong southeast to south return flow will set up over much of the western and central Gulf waters on Friday night and Saturday. The stationary front will be weakening on Friday night, from 25N65W to SE Cuba. The front eventually will dissipate along the same line by Saturday night. High pressure will build into the area behind the front, and it will shift eastward during the next few days. A weak cold front is expected to move into the far NW waters on Monday.
