Southeast Gulf of Mexico .SYNOPSIS...A weak low pressure of 1016 mb is located over the NW Gulf near 27N96W. A cold front extends from the Florida Big Bend across SE Louisiana to near 28N94W. A warm front continues from this point to the low center. A trough also extends from the low across the western Gulf to near 18.5N94W. The cold front will sweep across the eastern and central Gulf waters today while weakening across the SE Gulf on Mon. The low will drift N through Mon night, then ENE across the north-central Gulf through Thu night and the NE Gulf by Fri, dragging a new cold front across the SW Gulf. The pressure gradient between the low and high pressure building over the SE of United States will support fresh to strong N-NE winds and building seas over the northern Gulf today. Fresh to strong northerly winds are also expected over the western Gulf behind the cold front. On Mon, fresh to strong winds will persist N of the warm front over the NW Gulf while mainly fresh northerly winds will prevail W of the cold front. The high pressure and front will weaken Tue through early Thu allowing for winds to diminish and seas to subside.
