Southeast Gulf of Mexico

.SYNOPSIS...A broad area of low pressure in the central gulf
will shift northwest and reach inland southeast Texas on Fri
evening. Fresh to locally strong easterly winds are forecast
over the northeast semicircle of the low. This system has a
medium chance of becoming a tropical cyclone prior to reaching
the Texas coast. A northwest to southeast orientated surface
ridge will set up from central Louisiana to Florida Bay by early
Sat, with a surface high developing along the ridge near 27N91W
late Sat. The surface high will shift slightly south early next
week as a surface trough passes slowly east across the
north-central gulf waters.

.SYNOPSIS...Hurricane Florence is just north of the area near
33.7N 76.2W 955 mb at 5 PM EDT moving W-NW at 4 kt. Maximum 
sustained winds 85 kt gusts 105 kt. Florence will move to 34.1N 
77.2W Fri morning, 34.2N 78.2W Fri afternoon, weaken to a
tropical storm near 33.9N 79.0W Sat morning, near 33.8N 79.9W
Sat  afternoon, near 34.8N 82.3W Sun afternoon, near 37.9N 82.6W
Mon  afternoon and near 42.7N 76.3W on Tue afternoon. Large
swell generated by Florence will continue to affect the Atlc 
waters N of the Bahamas through late Fri. Large swells are also 
forecast east of 70W through Fri night.
