Southeast Gulf of Mexico .SYNOPSIS...A thermal trough will develop each evening in the NW Yucatan Peninsula, move into the SW Gulf overnight, where it will dissipate each morning. Weak high pressure will remain across the area through Wednesday night. A cold front will move into the northern and western Gulf waters on Friday, and possibly stall from northern Florida to far S Texas on Saturday as high pressure builds southward behind it. .THIS AFTERNOON...E to SE winds 5 to 10 kt. Within 200 nm east of the coast of Florida .SYNOPSIS...The center of Hurricane Maria at 26/1500 UTC is N of area near 33.6N 73.1W 971 mb moving N or 360 degrees at 6 kt. Maximum sustained winds are 65 kt with gusts to 80 kt. Maria is forecast to continue to pull further away from the forecast area through tonight. Winds and seas associated with Maria will decrease gradually through Wednesday night. A trough will extend SW from the N-central waters to the Central Bahamas in the wake of Maria through Wednesday night, and become diffuse on Thursday. High pressure will build westward across the eastern part of the area. A weak cold front is expected to approach the SE United States on Friday, then weaken across the far NW waters on Saturday as strengthening continental high pressure builds southward over it.
