Hurricane Zeta near 29.2N 90.6W 970 mb at 5 PM EDT moving NNE at 21 kt. Maximum sustained winds 95 kt gusts 115 kt. Zeta will move inland and weaken to a tropical storm near 32.8N 87.0W late tonight and move well inland to near 37.5N 78.8W Thu afternoon. A cold front extends from a 1007 mb low over southwestern Louisiana to 25N93W, to 21N94W and to inland Mexico near 20N96W. The front will reach from northern Florida to near 25N87W and to the Yucatan Peninsula by Thu evening and move to just southeast of the Gulf Fri. Fresh to strong northwest winds behind the front will spread across the Gulf through early Fri. By Fri afternoon strong north winds will be confined to the Bay of Campeche, then diminish to fresh speeds late Fri night. High pressure will build in behind the front through the weekend, with winds diminishing and seas subsiding throughout. A strong cold front will move across the area Sun and Sun night followed by fresh to strong north to northeast winds, becoming strong northeast winds entire area Mon and Mon night as strong high pressure builds southeastward across the region. Seas will build with these winds. ...CARIBBEAN SEA AND TROPICAL N ATLANTIC FROM 07N TO 19N BETWEEN 55W AND 64W... A tropical wave over the central Caribbean near 76W will move across the rest of the central Caribbean tonight and the western Caribbean Thu through Fri night. Another tropical wave is just east of the Lesser Antilles. This wave will move into the far eastern Caribbean tonight and across the rest of the eastern through Thu night, then across central Caribbean Fri through Sat night and the western Caribbean Sun into the early next week. This wave may lead to the development of broad low pressure over the southwestern Caribbean within the next few days, with the possibility of some slow development over the weekend or early next week. Gusty winds and showers and thunderstorms will accompany this wave, particularly over the Greater Antilles. Yet another tropical wave, currently east of the tropical N Atlantic waters near 50W, will move across those waters Thu through Fri night, then the eastern Caribbean Sat and Sat night, the central Caribbean Sun and Sun night and the western Caribbean Mon and Mon night. This wave will also be followed by fresh to strong east winds and be attendant by numerous showers and scattered thunderstorms. ...SW N ATLANTIC INCLUDING THE BAHAMAS... A tight pressure gradient between lower pressure in the Caribbean and high pressure over the central Atlantic will lead to moderate to fresh winds south of 27N through Thu night. A cold front will move off the southeastern U.S. coast Thu night, with some strong southwest winds ahead of it, north of about 29N. These winds will spread east as the front reaches a line from Bermuda to the southeastern Bahamas to central Cuba this weekend and stalls. Some strong north winds are possible behind the front north of about 29N this weekend. A stronger cold front will sweep across the western half of the area early next week followed by strong to near gale force north to northeast winds and building seas mainly north and northeast of the Bahamas.
