Tropical Storm Zeta near 21.6N 89.5W 985 mb at 11 AM EDT moving NW at 12 kt. Maximum sustained winds 55 kt gusts 65 kt. Zeta will strengthen to a hurricane near 23.1N 90.9W this evening with maximum sustained winds 70 kt gusts to 85 kt, move to near 25.7N 91.6W Wed morning, then begin to accelerate in a north- northeast motion to near 29.3N 89.9W Wed evening. Zeta will move inland and weaken to a tropical depression well north of the area near 34.2N 85.2W Thu morning. Numerous squalls and thunderstorms will continue to move across the Yucatan Channel from the northwestern Caribbean Sea through late Wed. A cold front just offshore the Texas coast will become stationary today through tonight. Another cold front will move into the NW Gulf Wed and stretch from Florida to the Yucatan Peninsula by late Thu. It will reach to near western Cuba Fri night. Tropical Storm Zeta just offshore the coast of the northern Yucatan Peninsula near 21.6N 89.5W 985 mb at 11 AM EDT moving NW at 12 kt. Maximum sustained winds 55 kt gusts 65 kt. Zeta will track northward across the central Gulf of Mexico tonight as it strengthens, then begin to accelerate and track in a north to north-northeast motion Wed evening and move inland and weaken to a tropical depression over the southeastern U.S. Thu morning. Numerous squalls and thunderstorms, with strong gusty winds, are over most of the northwestern Caribbean and Yucatan Channel. This activity will gradually lift northward to over the eastern and central Gulf of Mexico through Wed. A tropical wave over the eastern Caribbean near 67W is followed by fresh to strong east winds. The pressure gradient between high pressure in the central Atlantic and Tropical Storm Zeta, currently along the coast of the northern Yucatan Peninsula, will continue to allow for moderate to fresh southeast winds over the southwest part of the area through Thu. A cold front will move into the NW waters Fri, with some strong southwest winds ahead of it. The front will reach from near 29N65W to the central Bahamas and to western Cuba by Sat evening and become stationary through Sun night. Fresh to strong northeast to east winds will follow this front, mainly north of about 29N, through the weekend. Another cold front will move into the northwest waters on Sun and Sun night.
