The combination between high pressure over the eastern United States and broad low pressure over western Caribbean will continue to support fresh to strong easterly winds and building seas over the southeast Gulf through early Thu. Gentle to moderate winds under a weaker pressure gradient will prevail elsewhere through the forecast period. ...CARIBBEAN SEA AND TROPICAL N ATLANTIC FROM 07N TO 19N BETWEEN 55W AND 64W... A trough axis extends from the southeastern Gulf of Mexico southeastward to a 1007 mb low just east of Cozumel at 21N87W and continues to the southwestern Caribbean to another 1007 mb low near 13N81W. This system is producing scattered showers and thunderstorms mainly to the east of the trough axis. The trough will drift westward over the next couple of days enhancing shower and thunderstorm activity across the remainder of the western Caribbean. ...SW N ATLANTIC INCLUDING THE BAHAMAS... Tropical Storm Epsilon near 26.5N 55.0W 996 mb at 11 AM EDT moving NNW at 7 kt. Maximum sustained winds 45 kt gusts 55 kt. Epsilon will gradually intensify as it moves to near 27.4N 56.1W this evening, to near 28.2N 58.1W Wed morning with maximum sustained winds 55 kt gusts 65 kt, to near 28.9N 59.4W Wed evening, to near 30.0N 60.0W Thu morning with maximum sustained winds 60 kt gusts 75 kt, then strengthen to a hurricane near 31.4N 60.7W Thu evening and move to just north of the area near 32.4N 61.0W Fri morning, with little change in intensity and to well north of the area on Sat. The pressure gradient between high pressure over the western Atlantic and Epsilon will maintain fresh to strong northeast to east winds over the western waters through Thu.
