A ridge dominates the Gulf waters. A cold front will reach the NW Gulf tonight, extend from SW Florida to near Tampico, Mexico by Wed night, then exit the basin on Thu. Fresh to strong winds will follow the front through early Thu. Southerly return flow will increase across the NW Gulf by Thu night ahead of the next cold front forecast to enter the region Fri night. A low pressure system could develop along the frontal boundary over the SW Gulf during the upcoming weekend. Fresh to strong winds and building seas are expected in association with the developing low and front. Otherwise, smoke from forest fires in southern Mexico may cause haze and reduced visibilities over the SW Gulf for the next few days. ...CARIBBEAN SEA AND TROPICAL N ATLANTIC FROM 07N TO 19N BETWEEN 55W AND 64W... High pressure over the central Atlantic will maintain fresh to strong trade winds over the south-central Caribbean, and moderate to fresh winds over the remainder of the basin through Fri afternoon, except for the NW Caribbean, where gentle to moderate winds are expected. High pressure will develop over the SW N Atlc waters by Fri evening, supporting fresh to strong trades across most of the waters S of 18N and E of 80W through Sun. Otherwise, smoke from forest fires in northern Central America will reduce visibilities over the Gulf of Honduras and near the Yucatan Peninsula. ...SW N ATLANTIC INCLUDING THE BAHAMAS...
