A cold front has moved SE of the Gulf early this morning. In its wake, storm force NW winds in the Bay of Campeche have diminished to gales, and will fall below 30 kt later today as high pressure builds into the area. Hazardous seas will gradually subside from N to S today, with tranquil conditions by Fri. A weak reinforcing cold front will sweep through the NE Gulf Fri night, likely bringing some fresh NW winds. High pressure will shift east of the Gulf Sun, with fresh return flow increasing to strong for much of the Gulf early next week. ...CARIBBEAN SEA AND TROPICAL N ATLANTIC FROM 07N TO 19N BETWEEN 55W AND 64W... High pressure NE of the Caribbean interacting with low pressure over South America will maintain fresh to strong NE to E winds off the coast of Colombia well into next week. Winds may near gale force Fri night. The gradient will tighten early next week, bringing another risk of near gale force winds off the Colombian coast. A cold front has entered the NW Caribbean early this morning, and will stretch from E Cuba to E Honduras by this evening. Where this front stalls, heavy rainfall and localized flooding is possible from Guatemala into Nicaragua into the weekend. Over the Caribbean, the front will reach Hispaniola and toward Coast Rica this weekend, then will stall and dissipate early next week. Strong N winds are expected behind this front as high pressure builds into the region, highest near the coast of Central America. Winds will veer NE to E Mon and Mon night as the high pressure shifts E. NE winds may reach to near gale force speeds in the Windward Passage Mon and Mon night. ...SW N ATLANTIC INCLUDING THE BAHAMAS... A cold front extends from near 31N73W into the NW Bahamas and FL Straits early this morning. This front will reach Bermuda, pass through the Bahamas, and enter eastern Cuba by tonight. Ahead of the front, strong SW winds are occurring N of 25N, and strong NW winds are occurring behind it. These winds will weaken as the front does tonight into Fri. A secondary surge of high pressure and reinforcing cold front will likely sweep across northern areas Fri through Sat nights, possibly bringing another round of strong W to NW winds.
