Gale force winds offshore Veracruz, Mexico have diminished overnight but strong to near gale force NW winds will likely continue through the morning, before decreasing further. Elsewhere, expect fresh to locally strong N winds to diminish through the day. Seas in excess of 12 ft will prevail this morning offshore Veracruz and in the western Bay of Campeche, with high seas elsewhere diminish from N to S through the day. By tonight, with high pressure settling into the Gulf, tranquil conditions will ensue, and continue through early next week. A weak cold front will move into the NW Gulf Mon night and Tue, followed by a stronger cold front Tue night into Wed. This second front will race through the Gulf by Wed night. Gales are likely over the SW Gulf behind this front Wed and Wed night. ...CARIBBEAN SEA AND TROPICAL N ATLANTIC FROM 07N TO 19N BETWEEN 55W AND 64W... Strong NE to E winds off the coast of Colombia will pulse each night through early next week. A cold front stretches from E Cuba through the Cayman Islands and into Belize early this morning. This front will reach from Hispaniola to Nicaragua by tonight, then stall from Puerto Rico to Costa Rica for the start of next week. Behind this front, fresh to locally strong N to NE winds will prevail, particularly over the Yucatan Channel, lee of Cuba, and Windward Passage. As high pressure builds in Mon and Tue, some strong E winds are possible S of Hispaniola. The next cold front is likely to move into the NW Caribbean Wed night. ...SW N ATLANTIC INCLUDING THE BAHAMAS... Although Gale Warnings have ended N of the Bahamas, near gale conditions will prevail today over much of the area to the N and W of a cold front. This front stretches early this morning from SE of Bermuda into the SE Bahamas and to E Cuba. By tonight, the front will reach the SE parts of the area, extending SW into Hispaniola. Strong NE winds will continue tonight, and there is a chance that low pressure will develop along the front Sat night into early Sun, which could bring another round of near gale conditions to areas N of 23N and W of 70W. Large swell behind this front will create seas above 15 ft today for areas N and E of the Bahamas. This swell will propagate SE and decay with time, but seas to 12 ft are still likely to impact areas near the Turk and Caicos Islands and the N coast of the Dominican Republic for the latter half of the weekend. The swell will reach Atlantic waters N of Puerto Rico and the Virgin Islands late Sun and persist through Tue.
