Weak low pressure of 1016 mb is located near the Big Bend of FL and will dissipate later this morning. Extending SW from this low is a cold front that stretches into the Bay of Campeche. This front will move SE of the area by this evening. Behind this front, gale conditions are occurring offshore the TX and LA coasts, but these NW winds will diminish later this morning. N gales are also occurring offshore Tampico, MX. These winds will persist through at least midday. Finally, gales are developing offshore Veracruz and over the W Bay of Campeche, which will persist into tonight. Swell associated with strong winds and gales behind the front will lead to seas of 8 to 12 feet into Sat. High pressure will build in this weekend in the wake of the front. Another cold front will move into the NW Gulf Mon night, with a stronger cold front possible Tue night. ...CARIBBEAN SEA AND TROPICAL N ATLANTIC FROM 07N TO 19N BETWEEN 55W AND 64W... The prolonged nocturnal gales pulsing offshore Colombia will finally end this morning as the high pressure ridge north of the area weakens. As it does, a cold front will move into the NW Caribbean this afternoon, and will stretch from the Windward Passage to Honduras Sat, and from Hispaniola to Nicaragua by Sun. Fresh to strong N winds are expected behind this front, along with seas of 8 to 9 ft. Winds and seas will subside for the start of next week as the front dissipates. The next cold front may reach the NW Caribbean Wed night. ...SW N ATLANTIC INCLUDING THE BAHAMAS... A cold front that extends from 31N75W to near Ft Pierce FL early this morning will stretch from SE of Bermuda into the Central Bahamas and Central Cuba by this evening. This front will then reach Hispaniola and the SE parts of the area by late Sat, with weak low pressure forming along it between Puerto Rico and Hispaniola. The cold front may reach Puerto Rico by the start of next week. Ahead of the front, to the SW of Bermuda, gale force SW winds are likely into this afternoon. Behind the front, N gales will occur N of 28N into tonight. Large N swell generated by these gales will cause seas to approach 20 ft between FL and Bermuda through tonight.
