High pressure building into the Gulf will allow winds to decrease from strong to fresh over the eastern Gulf today. As the high slides east tonight, strong S and SE winds will develop over the NW Gulf. These winds will persist into Thu, ahead of a cold front that will move off the TX coast Thu night. By Fri evening, this front will strong from the Big Bend of Florida into the SW Gulf. This front will weaken and move SE of the Gulf by Sat night. ...CARIBBEAN SEA AND TROPICAL N ATLANTIC FROM 07N TO 19N BETWEEN 55W AND 64W... Long-period N swell producing high seas E of the Windward Islands will diminish today. A cold front that stretches from eastern Cuba to NE Nicaragua early this morning will reach a Hispaniola to Panama line by this evening, then stall from Puerto Rico to Colombia Thu evening, and weaken and dissipate on Fri. Strong N winds and higher seas are expected W of the front through tonight. Into the weaken, more benign conditions will prevail as weak pressure gradient exists over the area. ...SW N ATLANTIC INCLUDING THE BAHAMAS... Strengthening 1009 mb low pressure near 28N74W early this morning will move east to near 28N68W by this evening, then turn NE and move out of the area Thu. Behind this low, strong gales are occurring N of the NW Bahamas and W of 77N. These gales will continue through Thu and expand to the E as the low moves away from the Bahamas. Gales are expected as far S as 25N, W of 70W, then N of 28N W of 60W, and near storm conditions are possible. A cold front associated with the low extends this morning from the low through the SE Bahamas and E Cuba. This front will stretch from S of Bermuda through Hispaniola this evening, then stall over the far SE waters and Puerto Rico Thu night into Fri.
