High pressure continues to settle into the western Gulf, allowing winds to subside over the region, and gales to end in the Bay of Campeche. Strong winds early this morning offshore Veracruz will diminish to fresh this afternoon. Strong north wind will prevail today and tonight over the eastern Gulf. As the high slides east Wed, winds across the eastern Gulf will lessen and strong southerly winds will evolve over the NW Gulf. A cold front moving into the NW Gulf Thu will end the strong winds. This front will cross the Gulf by Fri. ...CARIBBEAN SEA AND TROPICAL N ATLANTIC FROM 07N TO 19N BETWEEN 55W AND 64W... Long-period north swell will continue to result in large seas and hazardous marines across the Tropical North Atlantic and along Atlantic facing parts of the Lesser Antilles and Puerto Rico into tonight, before gradually diminishing. A cold front that stretches from central Cuba to northern Belize early this morning will continue to move S and reach from eastern Cuba to Honduras by this evening, then from Hispaniola to Costa Rica by Wed night. Behind this front, strong north winds and higher seas are expected. ...SW N ATLANTIC INCLUDING THE BAHAMAS... Large seas north and seas of Puerto Rico will gradually diminish today. A cold front that extends early this morning from SE of Bermuda through the SE Bahamas and into central Cuba will slow down today as low pressure forms along it to the east of the Bahamas. As this low moves slowly NE toward Bermuda through Thu, a very tight pressure gradient will develop between it and strong high pressure over the SE U.S. This will result in gales developing by this evening off the N coast of Florida, then spreading across most areas N of 27N and W of 67W over the next several days. Large seas generated by these winds will reach near 20 ft to the north and east of the Bahamas and over portions of the Gulf Stream. Conditions will gradually improve for the end of the week.
