Low pressure over the eastern part of the north-central Gulf near 27N87W extends a cold front south-southwest to the northern Yucatan Peninsula. A warm front extends from the low east- northeastward to across northern Florida. The low will deepen as it slowly tracks northward toward and inland the Florida Big Bend area by late this afternoon. It will then slowly tracks east- southeastward across southern Alabama and Georgia to offshore the southeastern U.S. Mon through Tue night. Gale-force winds are expected over portions of the NE Gulf, north of 27N and east of 87W, through early this afternoon as the low approaches the Florida Big Bend area. A cold front trailing from the low will sweep across the central and eastern Gulf through early this evening and to southeast of the Gulf early on Mon. Strong northwest winds will follow in behind the front, while widespread areas of rain along with embedded scattered showers and thunderstorms, some possibly severe with strong gusty winds, rough seas and very heavy rain along with low visibility at times, will precede the front. Gale-force northwest winds in the far SW Gulf near Veracruz tonight will diminish to below gale force late this morning. Associated wave heights to 14 ft will subside to 10 ft late tonight and to below 8 ft early on Mon. Elsewhere, winds will gradually diminish Mon through Tue night. ...CARIBBEAN SEA AND TROPICAL N ATLANTIC FROM 07N TO 19N BETWEEN 55W AND 64W... A tight gradient associated with strong high pressure north of the area will maintain fresh to strong trades and high seas over the central and eastern Caribbean as well as over the tropical Atlantic waters through Mon morning as a cold front moves into the western Atlantic. The southern extent of this front will move into the far western Caribbean Sea tonight, reach from west- central Cuba to the northeast part of Honduras by early Mon afternoon, from eastern Cuba to near the border of Honduras and Nicaragua early on Tue, then begin to weaken as it reaches from the Windward Passage to central Costa Rica by early Tue evening and from the eastern Dominican Republic to near 13N79W by Wed afternoon. Strong northwest winds will follow in behind the front along the coasts of Honduras and Nicaragua diminishing to mainly fresh winds on Wed. Winds near the coast of Colombia will pulse to near gale force again tonight. ...SW N ATLANTIC INCLUDING THE BAHAMAS... A stationary front extending from 23N65W to the southeastern Bahamas will become diffuse by early this evening. Strong high pressure to the north of the front will continue to allow for strong northeast to east winds over the waters through this morning. Low pressure slowly moving northward over the northeastern Gulf of Mexico will move off the southeast U.S. on Mon, then move slowly eastward through Tue, then in a southeastward motion through Wed. Gale-force winds are expected over the waters east of northern Florida to near 75W beginning tonight and through late Mon afternoon. A cold front trailing from the low will move across the area Mon through Tue night, followed by strong west to northwest winds and building seas.
