000 AGXX40 KNHC 051936 MIMATS Marine Weather Discussion NWS National Hurricane Center Miami FL 236 PM EST Thu Dec 5 2019 Marine Weather Discussion for the Gulf of Mexico, Caribbean Sea, and Tropical North Atlantic from 07N to 19N between 55W and 64W and the Southwest North Atlantic including the Bahamas ...GULF OF MEXICO... High pressure over the northeast Gulf will shift east of the area by this evening in response to a cold front that will move off the Texas coast early Fri. Weak low pressure may form along the front over the northern Gulf Fri and shift northeast of the area into Sun, allowing the front to stall and weaken over the western Gulf. A ridge of high pressure will build across the central Gulf Mon, before shifting east of the area late Mon ahead of a stronger cold front expected to move off the Texas coast early on Tue and reach from the NE Gulf to the western Gulf by late Tue. This front will be followed by strong northerly winds, possibly reaching to gale force, over portions of the far western and SW Gulf Tue and Tue night. ...CARIBBEAN SEA AND TROPICAL N ATLANTIC FROM 07N TO 19N BETWEEN 55W AND 64W... High pressure building north of the area will support moderate to fresh trade winds across the region through early next week, with fresh to strong winds pulsing off the coast of Colombia. Long-period northeast to east swell will begin to propagate through the Tropical N Atlantic waters Sat night and into early next week. ...SW N ATLANTIC INCLUDING THE BAHAMAS... A cold front recently merged with a stationary front, and as of 18Z extends from near 26N65W to the southeastern Bahamas and to near the eastern tip of Cuba. The front will advance some eastward tonight, then become stationary from near 25N65W to the eastern tip of Cuba by early Fri and gradually dissipate through Sat. A secondary cold front is moving across the far northwest waters followed by strong west to northwest winds. This front will quickly move across the northern waters through Fri night and merge with the northern part of aforementioned cold front well east of the forecast waters. Yet another cold front will move across the northwest waters Fri night, and be overtaken by another cold front that moves off the Carolinas on Sat. This front will weaken to a stationary front late on Sat and to a trough on Sun that will retrograde westward through Sun night as strong high pressure builds southward across the waters northeast and east of the Bahamas. The associated tight gradient will bring increasing winds along with building seas over these same waters beginning late on Sun. These conditions are expected to begin to diminish from Mon afternoon through Tue night. $$ .WARNINGS...Any changes impacting coastal NWS offices will be coordinated through AWIPS II Collaboration Chat, or by telephone: .GULF OF MEXICO...
