A trough extending over the SE Gulf and southern Florida will lift northeastward as a cold front crosses the Gulf and approaches from the west today. This front will stall over the SE Gulf Wed and Thu. Moderate to fresh winds behind this front will persist into Wed before diminishing. Today, NW winds off Veracruz may reach strong speeds. Another cold front will move into the NW Gulf Fri night. ...CARIBBEAN SEA AND TROPICAL N ATLANTIC FROM 07N TO 19N BETWEEN 55W AND 64W... A tropical wave entering the western Caribbean near 77W will cross the basin today and tonight, then enter Central America Wed. Another tropical wave has entered the eastern Caribbean. This wave will move south of the Greater Antilles Wed and Thu. Winds over the S central Caribbean will be locally strong through Wed. Otherwise, moderate to fresh trades will generally prevail across much of the region for the next several days. Large N swell east of the Leeward and Windward Islands today and tonight, then seas will gradually subside for the latter half of the week. ...SW N ATLANTIC INCLUDING THE BAHAMAS... A weakening stationary front extends across the northern waters from 26N65W to 30N73W. North of the front, strong winds will prevail along with very rough seas and scattered showers and thunderstorms today. As the front dissipates by tonight, winds and seas will diminish as the pressure gradient relaxes. A surface trough over the NW Bahamas and S Florida extends SW into the SE Gulf of Mexico this morning. This trough will lift northeast and may organize into low pressure north of the Bahamas tonight or Tue, before moving north and east away from the area. If the low forms, some locally fresh to strong winds may reside near Tue into Wed. A cold front will move off the SE U.S. coast tonight and approach the NW Bahamas on Wed.
