Weak high pressure ridging will remain over the northern Gulf through the next few days providing for generally a gentle to moderate wind flow and relatively low seas across the area. Surface troughs will develop each afternoon over the Yucatan Peninsula and generate fresh to locally strong winds during the overnight hours as they move westward over the Bay of Campeche through Wed. ...CARIBBEAN SEA AND TROPICAL N ATLANTIC FROM 07N TO 19N BETWEEN 55W AND 64W... A pair of tropical waves crossing the Caribbean will lower wind speeds over the basin until Thu night, then fresh to strong winds will return to the central Caribbean in the wake of the tropical waves. The first wave is near 70W/71W as of 18Z and is accompanied by scattered showers and thunderstorms N of 16N, including the Mona Passage and the eastern section of the Dominican Republic. This wave will move across the central Caribbean tonight through Wed night, followed by fresh to strong east to southeast winds mainly S of 15N. Another tropical wave, currently over the Tropical N Atlantic, will move across the eastern Caribbean beginning on Wed afternoon and through Thu night, and then across the central Caribbean Fri through Sat, over the eastern part of the western Caribbean Sat night and the remainder of the central Caribbean Sun and Sun night. This was is is expected to be attendant by similar wind and weather conditions. ...SW N ATLANTIC INCLUDING THE BAHAMAS... A tropical wave will bring strong east to southeast winds as well as showers and thunderstorms over the SE part of the area through Wed evening. The wave will pass near Hispaniola into the Turks and Caicos Islands during Wed through Thu, accompanied by fresh to strong winds as well as showers and thunderstorms. This system will move across the Bahamas Thu evening, then northwestward toward the Florida east coast Fri through early Sat before it loses its identity during as a surface trough associated with a mid/upper- level trough, develops just NW of the forecast waters. Abundant moisture along with scattered to numerous showers and thunderstorms, with gusty winds and locally heavy rainfall, can be expected by this feature as it moves across the far western waters during the next few days.
