Overall high pressure will dominate the area, supporting gentle to moderate winds through the week. Surface troughs will develop during the afternoons over the Yucatan Peninsula and generate fresh to at times strong winds during the overnight hours they move westward over the Bay of Campeche, especially early in the week. Weak surface troughs will also develop over the Florida Peninsula and move off into the eastern Gulf of Mexico, bringing some showers and thunderstorms during the overnight hours. ...CARIBBEAN SEA AND TROPICAL N ATLANTIC FROM 07N TO 19N BETWEEN 55W AND 64W... The pressure gradient between high pressure to the north and lower pressure over the SW Caribbean will support fresh to strong winds over the south-central Caribbean today. This gradient will relax as a part of tropical waves cross through mid-week, leading to lower wind speeds until late week, when the gradient will restrengthen in the wake of the tropical waves. The first aforementioned wave will impact the Virgin Islands and Puerto Rico today and Tuesday, bringing fresh to possibly strong winds to the region along with numerous showers and thunderstorms. A couple of other tropical waves, currently in the central Atlantic, may bring similar conditions Wed through at least early Fri. ...SW N ATLANTIC INCLUDING THE BAHAMAS... Low pressure trough over the far northwest waters will continue to slowly dissipate through tonight. A tropical wave will bring scattered to at times numerous showers and thunderstorms to the waters near Puerto Rico as well as fresh to possibly strong winds from this afternoon through Tuesday. This wave will then move north of Hispaniola and over the Turks and Caicos Islands Wed through Thu night, bringing fresh to strong east winds as well as scattered to numerous showers and thunderstorms, before the feature enters the Bahamas and off the east coast of Florida by the end of the week.
