000 AGXX40 KNHC 010737 MIMATS Marine Weather Discussion NWS National Hurricane Center Miami FL 337 AM EDT Mon Jul 1 2019 Marine Weather Discussion for the Gulf of Mexico, Caribbean Sea, and Tropical North Atlantic from 07N to 19N between 55W and 64W and the Southwest North Atlantic including the Bahamas ...GULF OF MEXICO... Weak high pressure will remain over the region through the week. A trough will develop over the Yucatan Peninsula in the afternoons and move offshore to across the Bay of Campeche during the evening hours and into the morning through Thu, bringing fresh to locally strong northeast winds to the eastern Bay of Campeche during the evening and overnight hours. Moisture continues to spread from the NW Caribbean Sea to across much of the central Gulf as well as to the eastern part of the SW Gulf leading to scattered to numerous showers and thunderstorms over these waters. Some of this activity may be accompanied by strong gusty winds, frequent lightning and rough seas. The moisture along with the shower and thunderstorm activity will shift to the northern Gulf areas by late Tue. ...CARIBBEAN SEA AND TROPICAL N ATLANTIC FROM 07N TO 19N BETWEEN 55W AND 64W... The combination of a a strong pressure gradient between the Bermuda high and lower than typical low pressure over northern Colombia is currently allowing for minimal gale force winds to exist just offshore Colombia along with high seas. These winds will diminish to just below gale force later this morning. However, the strong gradient will continue to allow for strong to near gale force winds over much of the central and SW Caribbean through the remainder of the week, with moderate to fresh trades expected elsewhere. A present far eastern Atlantic tropical wave is forecast to move across the tropical N Atlantic waters Wed and Wed night, then across the eastern Caribbean Thu and Thu night. The wave is expected to increase shower and thunderstorm activity across these waters. ...SW N ATLANTIC INCLUDING THE BAHAMAS... A relatively weak high pressure ridge will remain along 24N through Wed before shifting northward to near 27N by late on Thu. A weak cold front will move across the waters N of 27N tonight into Tue, then stall from near 29N65W to the central Bahamas by early Tue evening. The front will slowly dissipate through Wed night. Ahead of this front, fresh to strong southwest winds are expected over the northeast forecast waters this afternoon and tonight. Also, scattered to numerous showers and thunderstorms well ahead of the front are already affecting the waters N of 27N and E of 76W. This activity will gradually shift east-southeastward through early on Wed before decreasing as it lifts northward Wed through Thu with the remnants of the front. On Thu, the pressure gradient will allow for generally light to gentle southerly winds across the area, with the exception of gentle to moderate east winds over the far southern waters E of the southeastern Bahamas. $$ .WARNINGS...Any changes impacting coastal NWS offices will be coordinated through AWIPS II Collaboration Chat, or by telephone: .GULF OF MEXICO...
