The latest Ascat pass indicated fresh to strong northeast winds over the eastern part of the SW Gulf in association with the Yucatan Peninsula trough that has moved offshore to over those waters. This trough will again develop over the Yucatan Peninsula in the afternoons and move offshore again tonight and Fri night bringing fresh to strong winds over the far eastern Bay of Campeche and along the coast of the Yucatan Peninsula as it moves west-northwestward over the SW Gulf waters during the late night and early morning hours. A weak trough is forecast to move westward across the eastern Gulf today trough tonight and over the central Gulf waters on Fri, with little impact to winds and seas. A second trough will move across Florida and across the eastern Gulf on Fri, then reach the northwest part of the Gulf on Sat before dissipating Sat night. Otherwise, a ridge will remain over the remainder of the area supporting gentle to moderate winds through Mon night. ...CARIBBEAN SEA AND TROPICAL N ATLANTIC FROM 07N TO 19N BETWEEN 55W AND 64W... A strong pressure gradient between the Bermuda high and the Colombian low will support strong to near gale force winds over the central and southwestern sections of the Caribbean through Mon night. Northeast to east winds will pulse to minimal gale force along and within about 90 nm of the coast of Colombia at night through Sun, with the possibility of northeast winds reaching minimal gale force in the Gulf of Venezuela. A pair of tropical waves will move across the tropical N Atlantic waters during the weekend into Mon, increasing winds and building the waveheights east of the Lesser Antilles. ...SW N ATLANTIC INCLUDING THE BAHAMAS... A surface trough extending from near 29N71W to the central Bahamas will move westward through tonight and move across S Florida late tonight into early on Fri, with scattered showers and isolated thunderstorms. Another surface trough, induced by a mainly surface to mid- level westward moving disturbance in the easterlies, will track westward from the Bahamas toward S Florida late Fri through late on Sat. It is expected to be attendant by scattered showers and thunderstorms, some of which may be accompanied by strong gusty winds, rough seas and frequent lightning. The pressure gradient on the SW side of the Bermuda high will strengthen through Sun, increasing east winds to moderate speeds to the east of Bahamas.
